Another action-packed day saw Paralympics GB add two more medals to their tally, taking their total to five after just three days – Incredible! There were also massive performances away from the ski slopes, including a best ever result in Para Snowboard for Paralympics GB and a huge win for our Wheelchair Curlers.

Another day, another medal for Fitzpatrick, Smith and the Simpson brothers   Many of our Para Alpine skiers were out in force again today to continue their outstanding start to the Games. This time they hit the slopes for the Super Combined events.    Today saw Menna Fitzpatrick, Neil Simpson and their guides Gary Smith and Andrew Simpson add another medal to their rapidly expanding collection both taking bronze in the Women’s and Men’s Super Combined Visually Impaired.  Fitzpatrick, who has now won six medals for Paralympics GB across two Games, with her guide Gary Smith managed the quickest factored time in the slalom event to move into the medal positions following a solid Super-G run earlier. The combined time of 2:05.98 was just behind China’s Zhu Daqing and Slovakian great Henrieta Farkasova.   Fitzpatrick was rightfully ecstatic after clinching the bronze –

“We left ourselves a bit of work to do in slalom and the plan paid off, we went out there and put down a pretty decent run, so we are super, super happy.”

Fresh from their astonishing gold medal success in the Super-G yesterday, brothers Neil and Andrew Simpson followed the same approach. Lying outside the medal positions after the Super-G run, like Fitzpatrick, they moved up the standings with a slick Slalom run to seal third spot with a combined time of 1:52.81.   In the same event as the duo of Fitzpatrick and Smith, Millie Knight and guide Brett Wild, who won a bronze medal on the opening day of competition, narrowly missed out on a medal finishing in fourth place.

In the Women’s Super Combined Sitting , Shona Brownlee did not finish the slalom course and James Whitley was disqualified in the Super-G discipline in the Men’s Super Combined Standing.   A couple of well earned rest days now for our superb Para Alpine squad!
