A day of impressive finishes and close comebacks for Paralympics GB in the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics.
Day 4 in Beijing saw two sports out on the snow and ice. Our Para Nordic skiers competed in the Biathlon, while our Wheelchair Curlers were back at the Ice Cube for their latest matches in the round robin stage.
Back-to-back top-ten finishes for Meenagh in the Biathlon
Scott Meenagh and Callum Deboys were back in action on Day 4 – this time in the Men’s Middle Distance event.
Meenagh secured his second top-ten finish of the Games, crossing the line in ninth place in a time of 33.11.7. Righfully proud of his achievements, he said
“to be there consistently in that top 10 and tugging on the sleeves of the best of the world is something I’m really proud of and I think testament to the programme, the coaches and everyone who’s helped us get here today.”
Also in the race was teammate Callum Deboys who came home in 18th place.
Mixed Fortunes for our Wheelchair Curlers
ParalympicsGB are fast becoming the masters of the morning session in the Ice Cube. Following yesterday morning’s impressive 15-1 win over Switzerland, a similar pattern followed today with a 10-5 victory of Estonia.
In the afternoon session however, it was Sweden who came out on top taking the 6-4 win. ParalympicsGB staged a late fight back, but it was not quite enough to defeat the table leaders.
Next up in the round robin, we play Canada and Republic of Korea.
